Innovative Resin Technology: Recycling Meets Efficiency at Davidson Plyforms

We believe that reducing waste and enhancing efficiency go hand-in-hand. Within our Davidson Plyforms division of our Work Furniture business, we’re delivering high-performance plastic components from made from 100% recycled industrial plastic waste streams.

Davidson Plyforms – one of our operations – faced a major challenge: cutting costs by 40% on office furniture components. To address this, they adopted a game-changing solution called Innovative Resin Technology (IRT). This patented process enables the recycling of multiple types of plastic waste streams without presorting, unlocking major savings in time, energy, and cost.

“Our process allows us to use material without additional processing because of our kinetic energy process,” said Mark Walkington, branch manager of Davidson Plyforms. “This competitive edge helps us avoid outsourcing, reinforces both local jobs and supply chain stability, and allows us to deliver unique solutions for customers that wouldn’t otherwise be possible through plywood.”

Over the last 17 years, Davidson Plyforms has used more than 17 million pounds of recycled plastic in its patented melting process. The resultant materials can support customers seeking to meet the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED rating system and GREENGUARD Certification criteria.
