Recruiting Scam Illegally References Leggett & Platt

We have been notified that several individuals recently received emails from people falsely claiming to be part of Leggett’s Human Resources recruiting team. The senders are using the name “Matthew Bill” from email address matthew@leggettcareers.com, and Mike Greenberg from email address mike@leggettcareers.com.

These messages typically ask recipients to reply “Interested” to confirm receipt regarding a supposed job opening, or they request personal data (home address, phone number, etc.).

Please be aware that this is a scam.

These individuals are not Leggett employees and are not associated with Leggett in any capacity. Do not respond, do not click on any links, and do not provide any personal information. We recommend disregarding and deleting any emails from these senders. The scammers may use names other than “Matthew Bill” or “Mike Greenberg.”

Freight Shipping Scam Illegally References Leggett & Platt

Multiple freight carriers have reported hiring a freight broker who is illegally and fraudulently using the name “Leggett & Platt Global Supply Chain Solutions” and “L&P Transportation LLC” along with using an actual MC# and physical address that is associated with Leggett & Platt. The fraudulent Contract Load & Rate Confirmation contains phone numbers and e-mail addresses that are not associated with Leggett & Platt, such as

This is a scam.

The scam is sophisticated and continues to evolve, so other misrepresentations may be used to make it look as though the carrier is doing business with Leggett & Platt. These fraudulent freight brokers are not associated in any way with Leggett & Platt and Leggett & Platt cannot be responsible for any claims relating to this activity.

Check Scam Illegally References Leggett & Platt

Several individuals around the world have recently reported receiving checks which appear to be from Leggett & Platt. They reference Leggett & Platt in the top left-hand corner, and typically are drawn on J.P. Morgan or a Canadian bank. They are accompanied by a standard letter or e-mail, which instructs the recipient to deposit the check in his or her bank account to help in "expediting payment," or through a money transfer service to work as a mystery shopper or personal assistant. The checks may also be sent with a letter referencing a lottery or "prize" pool. However, the scam continues to evolve so other misrepresentations may be used.
