Reducing Energy Use and Emissions Through Better Buildings, Better Plants

We’re a proud participant in the U.S Department of Energy’s (DOE) Better Buildings, Better Plants Program. Through the program, we use the DOE’s vast tools, resources, and expertise to support various energy management practices.

As a member of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Better Plants Program, we use the technical and training resources provided to enhance and expand our energy management efforts and drive progress towards our goal to improve our energy efficiency. To date, our initiatives include:

  • Benchmarking energy performance at 30 U.S. sites, marking 7.5% progress toward our 10-year Better Plants energy intensity improvement goal.
  • Performing energy assessments at multiple U.S. sites through the DOE’s Industrial Assessment Centers, identifying opportunities for annual cost savings and CO₂ emissions reductions.
  • Hosting on-site energy treasure hunts, where team members discovered projects with cost and emissions savings potential.
  • Participating in an In-Plant Training Exchange hosted at two facilities, encouraging peer learning, practical improvements, and energy and cost-saving projects.
  • Participating in energy systems and decarbonization bootcamps to expand our knowledge of best practices in energy management.
Better Plants® U.S. Department of Energy
